Which version of Squeezeboxserver are you using? It could be worth your while updating your Squeezeboxserver and Squeezeplay to 7.4.2 from: http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/7.4/
I have the latest .deb 7.4.2 on my Sheevaplug and it is working fine.
