Hi Triode, I have a direct ADSL connection to the internet.
There is a (squid) proxy running on the same server as squeezecenter and squeezecenter is configured to use that proxy in the place where you specify a proxy, but my outbound internet access is not filtered in any way, and the proxy is not running in transparent mode or anything like that.
