I think what people are implementing so far is a simpler non-encrypted version of AirPlay, where you just send a URL over to the player. Notice in the play2wifi video that the video starts from the beginning and not from where the iPad left off. I don't think anyone has reverse-engineered the audio streaming mode of AirPlay yet.
