OK - I finally tracked down where to find the server's ir/default.map
file. On my PC it's located in this folder: C:\Program
Files\SqueezeCenter\server\IR

I first made a copy of the file in the folder, just in case.... then
opened the file in Notepad, edited in the popcorn line and clicked
save. Up came a Notepad error window saying "Cannot create the
C:\Program Files\SqueezeCenter\server\IR\Default.map file. Make sure
that the path and file name are correct."

Clicking the OK button on that window (the only choice) then produced
the regular file save window showing the path to IR. Trying to save
there produces the error window I just saw - so I'm now in a circle
with no end.

Google led me to the answer to breaking this circle - save the edited
file somewhere and then copy it into the IR folder (apparently programs
including Notepad are prevented from writing to C:\Program Files.

Sorry if this is all old hat to you experts out there, but some other
rookie like me might find this helpful ;-)
