I have version 2.1.0.1433 of Whitebear.

On the Win XP machine I installed the UPnP User Interface and checked
that the SSDP Discovery Service was running. Whitebear (and SBS) is
mentioned automatically among the exceptions to Windows firewall.

On the Win 7 machine I confirmed that the network discovery option was
activated and I turned on media direct play and allowed it for
everything Whitebear. I have not altered the Win 7 firewall.

I have not done anything with my router since the two machines are on
my local network (hard wired).

The status reported by Whitebear looks fine (and I can see it on a web
page from the Win 7 machine not running Whitebear):

I can send/play to the Squeezeboxes from MC but I always get the error
message when I try to load the SBS library in MC.
