Actually I'm not sure iPeng can do a lot here. Apps have absolutely no
influence on the network connectivity on an iOS device.
Does the browser keep connections?
Do you have the same issues in both directions?
Does it probably get better after a while (if the connection gets lost,
iPeng will keep trying to reconnect).

Could you check whether the IP address of the iPod/iPad changes? Some
APs run their own DHCP.
