I actually had a problem track myself at the weekend so maybe this might be relevant; I had a track with no album set in iTunes, but the mp3 itself contained ID3v1.1 tags which had an album name. The album was then showing up in SlimServer and breaking the plugin's search of iTunes. To fix the problem I had to force iTunes to overwrite the v1.1 tags - changing any other version had no effect!
