I too found that old conenctions seemed to work (that's why I originally thought that some players were working when the issue started)
I've been looking for some logs and turned on debugging for the iplayer (will this do anything ie.e. does the player have debug output?) I have seen this a few times (when AAC is on and live won't work) Can't connect to remote server to retrieve playlist for, http://bbcmedia.ic.llnwd.net/stream/bbcmedia_lc1_radio4_q?s=1312568624&e=1312583024&h=1a264e2eba37550f2b5b6044f108b218: Timed out waiting for data. When I connect to the URL from the same computer on which squeeze server runs I get a conenction and slow (never ending) download - I guess some kind of feed.
