After using a pc as squeezebox server I just bought a MBL this week. This thread had quite some significance in the purchase decision.
So now everything is up and running fine. As the PC is not the latest and greatest model the MBL is even more responsive sometimes. So thank's a lot for testing and documenting! The only limiaton is what Leplus already described. I tried to use a non-public share but couldn't do so in squeezebox server. I already checked and adjusted the folder permissions so they are the same as for the default public share. Still doesn't work. I could imagine it might be related with the face that squeezebox server is running under it's own account.
