syncoptions or synchroniser or otherplayer plugins is worth investigating for these purposes, maybe not all your requirements can be fixed .
iPeng fixes another flaw in sbs syncing: iPeng has relative "master" volume adjustment in it's multiplayer control. You can increase or decrease all players in a sync group but still maintain their volume differences until you reach top or bottom, and you can still adjust them individually :) This function alone should sell iPeng to anyone with more than 1 player.
