Some people are a bit frustrated by the playlist length limit with
static playlists and other people are frustrated by the fact that the
performance is pretty bad with long static playlists. To solve both
these issues, you only need Dynamic Playlist plugin.
Also, if you have TrackStat installed, all the TrackStat related
dynamic playlists will be available even if you don't have SQL Playlist
installed.
However, I'm just looking at my download statistics and there are a lot
of more downloads for Dynamic Playlist compared to SQL Playlist, so it's
obviously useful for some people even if they don't have SQL Playlist
installed.

I can completely understand your perspective, I just figured most users
would probably go to the SQL Playlist menu when their playlists doesn't
appear in the Dynamic Playlist menu and there it is a message about not
being licensed.
However, as said previously, I think it will be clearer soon when I've
had the time to update the Dynamic Playlist plugin to also support
licensing, then I can display a license message also in the Dynamic
Playlist menu.
