First, thanks for your kind help - this was really perplexing.

I resolved the problem.  It is not caused by Squeezeplayer, it was a
problem with my configuration of Windows 7.  Specifically, I had old
registry entries causing a conflict in accessing Windows Net Framework.
I decided to bite the bullet and try to clean the registry before doing
a clean install of Windows - I used ccCleaner creating a restore point
first.  Once ccCleaner was done I rebooted and tried Squeezeplayer
again.  I set Properties to always run as Administrator.  It
immediately fired right up, found my server and is humming away.
