I agree some of this is supported in other ways in XBMC but for Squeezebox users the advantages of multi-room control and synchronised (semi-synchronised in the case of the PC, but still better than nothing) multi-room playback are significant. I realise that just replacing SqueezeSlave with Squeezeplay is not going to work, but an up-to-date headless player to replace SqueezeSlave, capable of direct streaming (and other things) seems sensible and I would not have thought it would be a lot of work for the right person.
