I got the plugin running just by installing the correct package through my package manager (yum on a vortexbox).
I've messed around a bit, just to understand how the plugin work and I could power on/off my amp (which is not a Denon, I just modified the on and off command sent to the serial port). So far so good, but to power on my receiver I need to power it on, wait for it to be ready, change the input, so I'll probably look at another solution to power it on/off and use the plugin for the volume part.
