I was really hoping to remove the need for the PlayHLS plugin and have it all done inside the iPlayer plugin. There are still some people who have been unable to get the PlayHLS plugin to work (probably due to ffmpeg issues), and it looks sufficiently troublesome I haven't even tried.
For the masses to be able to use this stuff, it needs to be installable simply by installing a plugin. Maybe two.
