I'm now experimenting with Qobuz and I have the same problem, I could only receive mp3 on LMS even though the subscription allows flac. I tried the steps you suggest above and the log shows:
Could you please revert your change, delete cache.db from the cache folder, then restart LMS and try again? No perl involved ;-).
