Hello Developers,

Members of the Apache Portals Project Management Committee (PMC) have expressed
the viewpoint that the time has come to move Apache Pluto to the Attic.

Since it is the last project remaining under the Apache Portals umbrella
project, this would effectively shut down the Apache Portals project as well.

The PMC viewpoint is to one degree or another rooted in the following project
information:

Membership Data:
- Apache Portals was founded 2004-02-17 (over 21 years ago)
- There are 40 committers and 17 PMC members in this project
- In the PMC "Roll Call" conducted on 2025-03-21, only 8 of the 17 PMC members
responded, with only one member (myself) indicating active participation

Membership changes since 2017:
- No new PMC members. Last addition was Neil Griffin on 2017-02-11
- No new committers. Last addition was Ahmed on 2016-08-06

Project Activity:
- No new activity since the release of Apache Pluto 3.1.2 on 2023-12-20

This message serves as an opportunity for developers to express their opinions.

If you wish to reply, please do so by Monday, 2024-08-04 (one week from today).

Thank you,

Neil Griffin
