Each Pluto 'page' displays a portlet application that is comprised of one or more portlets and are deployed within the same directory under webapps in Tomcat, which the Pluto binary distribution is built upon. The first step in deploying a portlet application involves building a war file containing all of its portlets including a web.xml and portlet.xml file. You then use maven and the registry file modifications (or the Admin Portlet Application in the 1.0.1-rc3 build) to deploy the portlet app.
