I'd only recommend the Dragon book if someone really wants to go hard- core into compiler writing--for example, if you want to know the mathematical theory behind LALR(1) parsing. Probably not the best choice if you simply want to learn more about using lex/yacc based tools. I'm not saying the Dragon book is bad though. It's definitely worth having around for more serious compiler writing projects.
