Armin- Thanks for pMapper, it is a very advanced project and my team really appreacites the work you've done!!!
I am contacting you to ask what functionality you are looking to put in version 2. I am on a team that will be using pMapper for a utility mapping project. We have looked at version 1.0.8 and version 1.9.3 and are very interested in using 1.9.3. Before we decided to use it, we wanted to make sure that no large changes will be made before version 2. We are at the very start of our development process, but if create something that we can give back to the project, we would like to do this as well. What is the process for submitting source code back into the main version? Thanks, -- Mike Hostetler [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.amountaintop.com From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Thu Oct 6 12:02:58 2005 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Armin Burger) Date: Thu Oct 6 12:03:43 2005 Subject: [Pmapper-users] Information about pMapper 1.9.3 BETA References: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mike, my plans are for next versions are in principal similar for version 1 and 2: p.mapper v1 & v2 (1.1.0 / 2.0.0): * include WMS client-side layers (in progress) * bugfixes for PostGIS attribute search (done for version 1) * using the modified version dtree.js instead of older tree.js (done for v1) the PHP code behind (in /incphp) is quite similar for both. Slight differences appear eg in the query functions. only p.mapper 2: * having a final layout using DIV's and resizing Luca Orlandini wanted to have a look at that * having a final XMLHttp request structure, maybe based on xajax.sourceforge.net So on the one hand version 2 will very likely have more changes, on the other hand if the problems with all the DIV stuff and resizing once is sorted out I will add new functions just to version 2. I think that the implementation of WMS client features will be the last major new release of version 1, otherwise just add bugfixes. Version 2 should allow also a more flexible layout and independence of the PHP behind than does version 1. So unfortunately I cannot recommend the one or the other, it depends a bit on your scopes.
