You should try it with the latest ms4w version from maptools.org (you will need to change all your MS and PHP related libraries to be sure it works, so MS 4.10 and PHP 5.2). Seems like they have support for SDE => http://maptools.org/ms4w/index.phtml?page=README_INSTALL.html#sde-9-1
