OK. My fault - I had to specify the CONFIG "PROJ_LIB" manually. It would be cool to have an information that this setting requires customization among the SHAPEPATH, IMAGEPATH etc. which are mentioned on the top of the pmapper_demo.map. The problem with access denied when writing the log file is odd. I increased the debugLevel in config.ini (what is the max value?) to 10 to trigger it on purpose, but nothing happens - no errors in the browser, no logs written.
