If you are having trouble editing local config, copy it to your local computer, edit it, then copy it back. 

If you are having trouble editing your new wiki install, you probably need to give your wiki.d folder the proper permissions 777.   Ditto for your upload folder.  This stuff in the in fine print of the install process somewhere.  This stuff is also required if you download a site and upload it to another site as the new site isn't likely to keep your folder permissions the same as the old one.
