john, many thanks again! i used your (:goto:) in the form of the following url - http://www.myexample.com/index.php?n=Main.Example?action=goto&new=Main.Entries&title=123 this redirects the user directly to the entry that is titled 123 rather than display the entry in a table. this is exactly what the user required in this instance. top man! cheers david
