For an alternative to "traditional" rich text editors, I'd recommend at least taking a look at wikEd [1], a wikipedia gadget that, among other things, does syntax highlighting. If I had the time, that's something I've thought about implementing for PmWiki.
The way I see it, syntax highlighting + GUI-ish table editing + possibly a live HTML preview would allow for a faster path for beginners to get comfortable with markup as well as be useful to more advanced users. Rich text editing does help users at the very beginning, but I at least really like the way you currently can move more easily to more advanced markup in PmWiki because all the editing happens in the same view of the page source, rather than forcing users at some point to switch editors. eemeli [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Cacycle/wikEd _______________________________________________ pmwiki-users mailing list [email protected] http://www.pmichaud.com/mailman/listinfo/pmwiki-users
