Give me a few days. I see there is a necessity to provide some of this again. There are many instances of British and Arab collaboration and the intent was not to offend the Arabs for several reasons. They had oil and there were many of them. Colonization was more unacceptable than it was when Britain was in it's hayday and I'm certain if the Holocaust did not happen Britain would have found some reason for destroying the League of Nations Mandate more than it already did. It was bad enough that the Jews always fought among themselves - primarily the secularists and the orthodox anti-Zionist Jewish right. The conditions were right and Arabs had no interest in Palestine at all, even those living there and it first took Jewish development of the region and Jewish creation of jobs before there ever was an interest in taking it for themselves - an old habit which Muslims had - as robbers and pillagers and using whatever asymetric methods whatever it was to defeat anyone including other Muslims.
