T E S T I N G......
I'm going to be sending this letter to both addresses to test the list.
- H A N K
The plain text list, fightback (previously known as pnews-l) has now been
changed and split. There are two plain text mailing lists for PNEWS. (PNEWS
stands for "Progressive News and Views").
The two lists are:
(1) [EMAIL PROTECTED] - This list is for discussion only. Do not
submit articles here. You can submit quotes from articles (use limited quoting)
or A LINK but the list is strictly for your views. It is a discussion list and
your comments should be mailed directly to the list address (above), not to me.
Only the list addresses will be valid. All other addresses will be
automatically blocked and I will not read it and it won't get posted. You post
will be delayed slightly depending on traffic and my availability - so that I
can insure that spam does not get posted.
(2) [EMAIL PROTECTED] - This list is for news only. NO discussion.
Here you can submit your essays, pointers, someone else's articles or links you
want to exchange with other. Do not send anything to my address. Use only the
list address.
If you do not want to be subscribed to both lists, unsubscribe or subscribe, by
sending that instruction in the subject line and use the list-request address
to affect those changes.
There is no specific line of march here. No party line.
As to my position, in case someone here is unaware of it, I consider myself a
progressive. I am pro-science, pro-justice, pro-truth, pro-Israel, and very
opposed to Social Darwinism (better named "Spencerism). I am a socialist who
strongly believes, "From Each According to Ability, To Each According to
Needs." And if we don't fix the environment and stop Global Warming we are all
doomed. I think we should be more concerned about the level of suffering on
this planet. As a member of the ape family with human attributes I believe we
should attempt to be more human which in my mind means being aware of the human
condition which is how we are dumping on the planet faster than we can clean it
up and doing all manner of damage to it and causing more despair to others than
we should be doing. We need to extend our _human_ ability to feel the pain of
others to all living things. We are not better but we should be smarter and the
objective of these PNEWS lists is to talk and think about intelligent choices
and giving life some meaning. Life might be a joke, but it shouldn't be funny.
Life should be sensitive and generous.
Let's make life better because it is so short and meaningless otherwise.
