Progressive Mailing Lists During the halcyon days of pre-web, non-commercial, internet, PNEWS-L had from 20-30,000 subscribers. There were up to 11 forums in the pnews network. Today there are THREE pnews related lists and one more for just for links - a tool for webmasters to raise site ranking. PNEWS is the oldest progressive mailing list on the Internet -- PNEWS has been around since before the net on ham radio and on the FidoNet, the APC Network, PeaceNet, Prodigy and as an alias list, a LISTSERV list, a mailman, majordomo list, and NOW PNEWS-L is two ecartis lists and a dada list. (see below) The objectives of the mailing lists are: (1) To Seek the Truth. (2) Advance Progressive Causes. (3) Challenge the Prevailing Dominant View which includes challenging the Bourgoisie Left. While not following any one specific "line of march", me and we attempt to seek the truth and we will go where it leads us - no matter where that might be. And truth is more important than being polically correct or following a particular agenda; left, right or in the center. It includes challenging cultures and ideologies which are a threat to other species, including ours. It m! eans also being pro-science and pro-life; that is, life that i! s alread y born, like those being slaughtered in Darfur and those who are dying from environmental disregard and overuse of resources. While it is true that pnews-l, the original list for "progressive" news and views leaned to the left (see bio for description of pnews and it's origin - http://pnews.org/bio/ ), today's left is much different than the left of the 1960s when pnews began as a ham radio network seeking only justice. Many publications on the left, i.e. Commentary, The New Republic, Transaction, turned center, center-right, right or neocon - and many disappeared like the (U.S.) Guardian, Line of March, and others. We haven't made that kind of 180 degree transition, instead preferring to be neither left-nor-right but always also aiming for progressive solutions. Some positions I have taken are not popular on the left and some are not popular on the right and some are not popular anywhere -- but I believe them to be the best informed views and always there is a serious effort at a higher level of discourse than one finds on the InterNUT and there is ALWAYS the very important emphasis on the truth and prove-able facts to insure credibility of that truth. That said, sometimes I'm wrong just as you will be. I'm willing to examine my views and where wrong to change them. Always Seek Truth - Work for Justice Here are the other lists.
