Slavery was a method of endenture. The practice was especially cruel under
the Muslims who were the majority of slavers who caught and sold Africans to
Europeans and eventually to the American slave trade. They still keep slaves
today and are just as cruel as they once were. they really copied the idea
from the Jews, not the Christians - but the practice was quite different
from slavery in America. Hebrews freed their slaves during the Jubilee;
every 7 years. And they also gave them a portion of their work and their
crops or livestock, etc. It only changed as labor practices changed and
those customs were inherited from Muslims and mostly the Nordics and other
early Europeans who took slaves whenever they went to war. Well, so did the
Muslims which was the reason for their wars, to take slaves, of those they
didn't kill, along with whatever other wealth they could find.
