My Private Property
For the life of me I cannot see what is so sacrosanct about private
property although in communism there is nothing that I have read which
would preclude the holding of personal items. Once it also must remember
that land however was never owned but loaned even in many capitalist
arrangements and in societies before many modern nation-states and cities
in Greek and Roman states. What sets communism off from capitalism is the
"means of production" which is what is held collectively, not privately -
since it is the means of production where labor can be exploited.
My wife's ancestors, who were Cherokee Indians, did quite well on the land
before arrival of the white man.
It is not a matter of being "proud" anti-capitalists Patrick. Das Capital
was not about being a proud anything, but it was a correct critique of
capitalism and is constantly being proved right with each crisis of
capitalism's exploitative nature - as inherent in it as you think human
nature is inherent greed. I personally happen to think there is a dark
side to human nature which we may share with chimpanzees, but there is
also a bright side which we likely share with our other relatives, the
bonobos and I, for one, would rather make love than war. War is inherent
in the capitalist system for the economic gains and disagreements between
capitalists and religion. Islam was appealing because it was sold as a
religion of plunder and booty and like most religions which held the
ignorant masses in check this one motivated them (as do the others) to be
hegemonic.
As to the framers, they were indeed propertied as were all those who were
permitted the franchise. Unless one owned property, which in the case of
the framers, was also their slaves, people of the colonies could not
really participate in their great democracy and democracy in this
millennium apparently means anything that is acceptable to George W. Bush
and his governing Madia and it includes disenfranchising the masses by using
machines which were likely hacked or in some way the electorate was
cheated so the count would for the first time not agree with the exit
polling (something which never happened before - except in 2000).
My coat is private property. If I lived the Soviet Union after the
revolution it would still be my coat. When I lived on several kibbutzim in
Israel my coat was also still my own - although I did share some work
clothes with others, but that was my choice. My radios were my own,
including expensive ham radio equipment, which was individually owned.
To suggest otherwise is a misperception John.
By the way, I am not an Anarchist. I do however believe it is much more
fair for "From Each According to their Ability, To Each According to Their
Needs."
The tyranny is freedom when it includes the _freedom to exploit others._

I would like to hear from some of the 500 subscribers here as to how many
would use phpbb if I install it? I have it ready to go and just need to
unpack it and configure it on my server? ... The other option is a
TikiWiki, although some of you remember how much a problem with spam we
had with the Wiki before I closed it. What I could do is install the Wiki
and arrange access from the list so others can't see it at all. Just some
alternatives to consider. (Let me hear from you off the list - at
