The Passion of Minuteman Chris Simcox
Dave Eberhart, NewsMax.com
Certain Christians believe that misbehaving is a
betrayal of Jesus, since he was tortured to death to
buy forgiveness of a merciful god for their sins; and
to get the point across, they should suffer to really
know what Jesus did for them. Many people, therefore,
wore undershirts woven of coarse hair, which would
scratch and itch and torment their sweaty, unbathed
bodies.
My personal hair shirt has been to read daily the
news from Newsmax, which tortures my sweaty, unshriven
mind, and mortifies my flesh to the point of provoking
heart attacks and strokes from their persistent
calling "spades" "excavation implements". I have
always thought that anyone so determinedly, blindly,
and irrationally right-wing must be abysmally
ignorant, excepting, of course, my dear friends and
family members, who account for their backwardness by
being raised by Ku Klux Klan members and attending
certain spineless liberal schools in the South, where
the rod has been spared.
At last, proof of my suspicions has been
vouchsafed in the enclosed too lengthy article. To
save time, I have excerpted certain errors and
misapprehenssions for busy readers and those with
stomachs too weak to suffer through the whole article.
Let us all tolerate the pretentious.

"The Southern Poverty Law Center once described
controversial Minuteman Civil Defense Corps founder,
Chris Simcox, 45, as "a relentless self aggrandizer
who comes across with a smug egotism and fiery
conviction of a former nobody."
"That relentless conviction has deep and abiding
roots that Simcox stated came to crystallization when
he was privileged to know U.S. Park Ranger Kris Eggle,
who served at southern Arizona's Organ Pipe Cactus
National Monument..."
""I guess the moment that really struck me was
talking to a park ranger in Oregon Pike park, an
astute dedicated young man who I questioned about all
of these illegals and drug dealers coming through the
park," recounted Simcox.
That prescient park ranger was Kris Eggle...."
"The fact of the matter is that Simcox just
doesn't have the background that breeds a fanatic.
His father is a no-nonsense Goldwater-Republican Navy
veteran who still raises and lowers a flag over his
home as if he were the ensign at the stern of the
supply ship he once served aboard as a boiler man...."
{I suspect there IS a little nonsense, too,
because, in this sense, the "ensign" is the FLAG that
flies at the stern of the freighter, not the junior
officer, ("ensign") which flies it!)
"Listen," he confided, "the park rangers in Big
Ben and the park rangers in Coronado National Monument
in Arizona - they wear full body armor and carry
AR-15s. That is how dangerous it is. That is what it
has become. Our border is an absolute war zone."
{From Big Ben, the clock on the houses of
Parliament in London, to Southern Arizona! Lotsa
AK47's! Lotsa "park rangers"! Can the Brits spare a
few for the Big Bend country in Texas?}
"He taught public school for one year and decided
it "was a waste of time." He blames the initial raw
experience on serving at a "very bad" high school in
South Central L.A. Later, Simcox taught at a more
safe and sane private school - kindergarten through
third grade - for over a decade...."
{Maybe the school wasn't bad -- just the South
Central minorities were "bad". They even may not have
spoken proper English! Unthinkable! A good ol'
private school is not a waste of time! Safer!
Saner!}
Say, how do think (lemme get the spelling right,)
Bach's Passacaglia and Fugue would go with the Passion
of Saint Simcox?
