No supposition, tested theory, which is essentially fact which can change
with additional facts. Anotherwords layers of facts and while facts can be
mistaken by their interpretation, every scientist invites theoretical
proof that would alter theoretical proofs but they are certainly not
suppositions. There is a difference.
There are always "deeper truth(s)" but there is only one set of rules
which apply to life and anything which contains a different genetic code
than anything else that is alive did not come from this planet.
It is the same for instinct and behavior. They are a combination of
proteins and how they express themselves. And in turn these are influenced
by the DNA genetic blueprint. That is the only ghost in the machine.
I do make my supposition though - based on what you wrote - and a more
honest approach would be for me to visit that site and read their
arguments before stating my own.
SO I DID... and how could I take seriously anybody/anything that holds up
Colin Wilson (who wrote the Outsider and other esoteric garbage) as an
endorsement of "mind science"[???] - or rather meditation as the way
inward and the answer to mysteries - like GOD perhaps???
You can take this super-natural approach if you like but
I choose science.
And the red ice site supports Intelligent Design and we all should know
where that is leading us. These ideas about string theory and multiverse
and quantum machanics and quantum evolution and other dimensions are not
supernatural but they are complicated. There is no science which
establishes any of this as a basis for Intelligent Design or God.
There is a common falacy which connects that type of ID thinking with
science which is designer thinking. It is "pre-suppositional"
thinking. The people before Darwin saw many complicated things and the
only thing they could imagine was god until Darwin explained the
connection quite differently and they same thing is happening with these
new theories and especially with GENES. The designer thinking folks see
everything as designed that way because of their complexities but those
assumptions have largely been proven _theoretically_ wrong by MOST
scientists - although there are a few, a very few, who side with those
scientists who don't believe in Global Warming (and those scientists,
most of them are funded by the oil companies) and a MINORITY who think
Intelligent Design is logically correct.
BUT those who believe in Intelligent Disign talk about it the same way,
using the same metaphors they used with creationism.
The truth is it is all about molecules pure and simple.
That is the pure, unadulterated, scientific truth.
