Did anyone ever divide the cost of destroying
Viet Nam by the number of Vietnamese? I'm not a math
whizz, but I'd gamble we could have bought a modern
rice nfar -- or whatever they wanted -- for every
family there. If we had done that, THEY could have
had health care, WE could have had health care, and
all the dead and wounded vets would have been whole,
but where would have been the war profit in all that?
If we took all the trillions the Iraq conquering
is costing and will cost, we could make each Iraqi
healthy, employed, comfortable and supplying us
with enough oil at $1.25 per gallon to make the earth
uninhabitable in 20 years! But where's the war profit
in that? And what's more, how could the fascists
possibly keep control for the local equivalents of
Krupp, Willy Messerschmitt, and Interessen
Gemeinschaft Farbenindustrie, Aktien Gesellschaft???
The only war now is against the people of the
U.S.A. The people who were threatened by the
uprisings of the people in the Thirties heard it
clearly, and understood it well. They are just an ace
away from being relegated to the garbage dump of
history, because society needs them no longer. They
have organized us for industry, and were well-rewarded
for the task, now we can organize ourselves for
society for a world of peace in the future.
