have realised its usage, esp. from the error message, thanks for

Technically, the manual contains a small code sample (page 2, I
think) which should have hinted at the correct way to use a PNGwriter
object (in the case that one has never encountered C++ objects
before). The PNGwriter package also contains two full examples, which
you might find interesting.
