This seems to be OS specific. In my Linux machines the library file name has .1.1.0 suffix with the usual symlink chain generated. I attempted to make this conditional based on the OS, but I do not have a FreeBSD to test it with. Can you try the latest 0.8 revision in your FreeBSD to see if so.2 is now generated to the file?
