The reason for this failure were duplicate definitions in the kernel
library, which led to an incomplete library. There are build-time warnings
that scroll by very quickly.
I have become dissatisfied with the way the kernel library was built, and
have simplified in particular how vecmathlib is handled. I am currently
testing on x86_64, and a new release candidate is in the making.
