An additional note:

That does not seem to be generally the case. I found I have other C++ sources 
with Xcode projects being created by CMake (e.g. Adobe’s XMP Toolkit SDK 
(http://www.adobe.com/devnet/xmp.html)) where "Compiler Default" in Xcode does 
mean the libstdc++ library and the c++98 dialect. So this seems to depend on 
the specific way CMake creates the Xcode project (or something else that I 
don’t see ...).
