Thank you, that was a valuable suggestion and I have tried to create a new document from a current one and than delete unwanted pages - but unfortunately with the same result. The resulting 10 pages have the same size of 31 MB as the whole 1300-pages large document.
I will wait until the end of the vacancy-time - may be somebody from PoDoFo-team will read this and have an advice for me. I have heard so many good words about PoDoFo - I can not believe the page extracting and deleting is just an imitation.
