Is the size increased by the size of the image or by more than the size of the image?

We have a requirement to insert an image to PDF. We are trying that with the following logic: 1) Create a PdfPainter for a PDFPage 2) Use that PdfPainter and add an image 3) Save the PDF File When doing that, we find a problem where the file size is getting incremented in a drastic way. Request to share if our approach is wrong.
