Hi,
you can have read-only checkout too, and you'll be able to provide
patches (set of changes you did), instead of pieces of the code. Even I
didn't ask you to have a checkout, I gave a receipt how to generate
file patches without it.
The patches are easier to apply and clearly state what was changed to
what. In other words, with attached patches you make life easier to the
reviewers/committers.
