Hi, reading of PDF files with broken XRef had been discussed here couple times in the past. I do not recall the last resolution, unfortunately. I can break a PDF file in any way here, but I'd like to have also a valid (but broken) PDF file as a reproducer, to be able to test your change. Do you have any such, please? By the way, your patch contains unnecessary noise, you changed coding style for code which didn't change. Rather than trying to use coding style you like, you should follow the coding style of the project, especially with such small changes. I can understand a hassle with larger changes, of course.
