Hi,
I'm not aware of anything myself. Looking for the usage of the
"snippet you provided", shows that it's used only if:
#if defined(__APPLE_CC__) && !defined(PODOFO_HAVE_FONTCONFIG) &&
!defined(PODOFO_NO_FONTMANAGER)
Which can make the difference (as otherwise PoDoFo relies on font
config and manager, as the code suggests), but I do not use Apple,
thus this is only after a quick code reading.
