PoDoFo does only support the JPEG "encoding" (PDF standard: filter) yet. I don't know if any of the others (JPEG2000, JBIG2) would be added for version 0.9.6 of which I have the impression that it'll be (mostly?) a bug-fix release. After that I hope they'll be accepted (open-source libraries for them exist).
