I'm afraid there is nobody here willing to debug some 3rd-party
application written in some language...

... thus I support this, start there where you see the problem, not
lower in the stack. It's like asking kernel developers to debug a
random application why it cannot open a file.

What you can try is to use PoDoFo to sign the PDF file for you,
avoiding the 3rd party application, and if it'll work then it might
make sense to expect the problem being in the 3rd party application
than in the PoDoFo itself. I do not know what version of PoDoFo you use
and how you get to it, but there is provided a tool named podofosign,
which you can use. Check its --help page, which gives an extensive
information about the possible arguments.
