Hello, I'm considering the other post here[1] as a duplicate so I won't answer that. First of all 0.9.7 is part of the old 0.9.x code base and at this point it is unlikely it will receive bug fixing for non trivial, non critical issues. The code for page merging has not been reviewed for 0.10.x but I had a brief look at it and to my judgment is hacky and I would like to rewrite it at some point. It also not unit tested at all. There are other github issues[2][3] related to it: I can review small simple patches for obvious issues, even though the plan is to eventually fully rewrite the code.
If this feature is critical for your PoDoFo workflow you may consider research the topic yourself and contribute[4] to PoDoFo your findings and code.
