[long mail warning.. please read till the end :)] I would like to postulate that we have fixed the two blocker bugs for a possible 2.0 release. I think we should not wait to fix all others before a release. I think its more than high time that we have a 2.0 release, and I believe current branch is stable enuf for us to achieve a quality release.
What I propose is that we release a 2.0RC next weekend (1-2 Nov). If we dont have any regressions in that, we release that build as 2.0 in a week's time. I am happy to do the release work if Glen is busy. For the rest of this week, only important bug fixes go into the branch. I also think we should hold on to any other feature till after 2.0, particularly interesting are jason's formula parser, and amichai's transparent unicode patch. For the currently open bugs:-- I will apply 15008 18837 and 18846 are DBCS issues that we can leave till later (unless Andy has looked at them.. his comments are on the bugs). I prefer we look at this together with Amichai's Transparent Unicode patch. For the record, the other unfixed bugs from the original list are - 6802,11744,12730,13249,13424,16560,17196,17494,18800,19321,19599. I think none of these are big enuf to delay the 2.0. We'll fix whatever we can in this week, and take it from there.. So if you have any objections, shout now....
