Your probably just running out of memory to the JVM, try increasing the
memory you give when you start your program:
java -Xms<min_size> -Xmx<max_size>

I do believe hearing in some previous thread that there is a theoretical max
size, but it may have been changed, and I am not even a 100% sure of that.
Excel itself does have a max size although I don't remember what it is.
Either way I think you are within the limits.
