I've found the documentation and can know imagine a bit better what such
a message might mean (although the document isn't small and thus needs
time to be experienced with it).

Yeah, the warning message gives you the ptg ID, whose definitions you
can find either in the OpenOffice Doc (link from POI website) or the
book (Excel 97 Developers Guide, MS press)
