Hello Poker source users, I am seeking advice on poker-network. I have a working generic poker-web and poker-server that I installed on Ubuntu 8.04. I am currently using the Windows 32bit version of Pok3d to access the server and play. Everything is working nicely but I would like to customize the way the client organizes and displays the ring games, sit n go’s and tournament’s data. As everyone knows, the games are categorized by game type with tabs in the upper right corner of the lobby. These are labeled as “Holdem”, “Sit & Go” and “Regular”. I would like to add a new tab category to this tab group. For arguments sake, I’ll call this tab Special. The Special category will contain a list of tournaments that are created to be accessed only by certain players. Special tournaments will be created with the intent to restrict participation in these tournaments to special invitation only. This intent is meant to allocate privacy and intimacy to small groups of players who likely know each other and wish to play only amongst themselves or to give special access to tournament play to other groups such as charity driven organizations. These groups will have received a special invite to the tournament directly by the site administrator. Based upon this premise, it is evident that in order to effectively restrict casual players from accessing the special tournaments, a discriminatory function must be implemented. First, I thought that accessing the tournaments by password would be best. However, even with my limited grasp of programming, it doesn’t appear that the poker client can accomplish this and could not be done without reprogramming and recompiling the source code. So I thought that within the confines of the programs structure, a special currency could be created and used for this purpose. I image that when a player is invited by the administrator, the invitation could contain information on how to obtain the special currency. Or the special currency could be dispersed by the administrator in advance to the invitees bankroll accounts for example. If it is at all possible, can anyone here with in-depth knowledge of pok3d and poker-network envision an elegant solution to this problem? I am open to all creative suggestions. Tallyho!
