As is obvious by the disappearance of pokersource.info, the key people
who kept pokersource alive for most of the late 2000s have had limited
time to work on it in recent years. For my part, I wrote almost
the entire test suite, but realized today that I haven't updated
my checkout of pokersource since mid 2010! (Ironically, I found
uncommitted changes... I stashed them for the moment ;)

Meanwhile, when I look around online, I still see that pokersource is
the most versatile Free Software codebase available for online poker.

But, if I search the online for information about "open source
poker software", I don't find pokersource easily.

I therefore propose to take the following "archival" actions for
pokersource:

  * Convert the SVN repository to Git.

  * Put a copy of the code on both gitorious and github (although we can
debate where the "canonical" location should be). I'd suggest
gitorious but if gna.org is preferred, we can leave it there.

  * Add a README.md that explains the current situation, what
pokersource could be used for today, and how someone might get
started to take over maintaining the code.

  * redirect pokersource.info and pokersource.net to the "canonical"
    hosting location.

I don't have tons of time, but I can set aside a few weekends in August
2014 to do this work. I estimate this work would take about 15 hours
to get right. (Getting an accurate Git import from SVN can be trickier
than it looks.)

I'd appreciate a slow-motion discussion on this list about the idea
before I do it. There's plenty of time between now and August to
discuss.
